As a mother, the letter below from Toni & David McCaffrey is heartbreaking. As a mother of a newborn, its terrifying.
Whooping cough is on the rise. If you were immunised as a child and haven’t had a booster since, you are no longer immune, can carry the deadly virus unknowingly and pass it on to others. Newborn babies have no immunity to this deadly virus.

My absolute favourite maternity garment throughout my three pregnancies has been a long maternity skirt. Made in a soft cotton jersey fabric with an underbelly design, and falling to my ankle in a slight aline shape, my skirts (I have a number of them, one in black, one in a colourful safari stripe and one in a slate / charcoal grey) are like wearing my favourite pair of tracksuit pants, they are sooooo comfortable. Finding the perfect fit maternity jeans that will be comfortable to the end of your pregnancy can be a serious challenge. I have heard so many mums to be complain about jeans that fitted okay in their first trimester but ended up too tight in the bottom and hips later on, jeans that wouldn’t stay up, jeans that were too high in the crutch so pulled on their belly, jeans that were too short in the leg and jeans that were way too expensive to even consider buying.

We booked into a family birth centre as this was a good compromise between the homebirth that I had wanted and the hospital birth that my partner wanted. Read the rest of this entry »
If you are planning to give birth in a hospital or birthing centre ie. not planning a home birth, make sure you have your bag packed ready to go. The last thing you want to be doing when you go into labour is trying to remember all the things you want and need to have in your hospital bag. Here is a handy checklist of things you might like to include in your bag when giving birth. I found having two bags was the best – one for the labour / birthing suite and one for after giving birth. If you have two bags, there’s no need to carry everything around with you. Remember, leave your valuables such as jewelry at home, its one less thing to worry about.
Maternity fashions for tall girls can be hard to find. If you talk to the vertically blessed, they will tell you finding regular clothing with long inseams for their extra long legs is hard enough, so the thought of falling pregnant and finding extra long maternity clothing is very daunting.
