National Mothering Week is celebrated the week leading up to and including Mothers Day in Australia. This year Mothering Week commences on 3rd May and the theme is Mothering: Together We Do Better.
National Mothering Week is a celebration for mothers, organised and supported by mothers to help mothers. It honours mothers around Australia in recognition of the wonderful job they do. This years focus is about the importance of mothers connecting with each other.
Being a mother is wonderful. I love watching my little girls grow and experience life. But becoming a mother is daunting. No amount of reseach, reading, watching other mums can prepare you for the task ahead. Everyday brings new challenges. Its a full on job and there’s no switching off. It can be exhausting, frustrating and isolating. Connecting with other mums is really important as they understand what being a mother entails. Connecting with other mothers to discuss and share experiences, to support and learn from each other is what National Mothering Week is focusing on in 2010.
Here’s to all you mothers out there, a big cheers, you do a fabulous job and your children love you so so much for it.
