As a tall woman, I need extra long clothing. As a tall pregnant woman, I need extra long maternity clothing. You might think this is stating the obvious, and perhaps it is, but let me tell you, finding long maternity jeans, long maternity pants, even just a long maternity skirt (ie. one that falls below my knees) is not that simple. I need jeans with an inseam of at least 36″. I am 6″2, and like to wear my jeans long. I like pants that look like full length pants, not like a pair of 3/4 pants (which is what regular length pants look like)! . Just once,  I would love to be able to buy long pants or jeans and have to hem them because they are too long….. ohhhh if only, I’ll keep dreaming!!
To my surprise AND DELIGHT, I stumbled across Barefoot Maternity. Not only do they have LONG, yes I mean true extra long length inseams, (up to 40″ actually), they stock jeans, pants and skirts catering to the tall, leggy whatever you want to call us long limbed girls. Now I am in heaven. Pant packs with 3 pairs of extra long trousers PLUS a pair of jeans with inseam of your choice : 34″, 36″, 38″ or 40″ (now that is REALLY tall!) all for a bargain price of $340.00. If you’d prefer, you can buy corporate pants or jeans individually.
Woooohoooo, finally a maternity designer taking tall womens fashion seriously. Tall girls head straight over to Barefoot Maternity’s online store.

Finding plus size maternity wear can be challenging. Finding good quality, comfortable plus size maternity wear even more challenging.
Many maternity labels offer small, medium and large sized pregnancy clothing, just a handful offer extra large size maternity & plus size maternity & even fewer 2XL & 3XL Maternity (XL, XXL, XXXL).
The plus size fashion market is growing and will continue to as the average body size increases. Mainstream fashion designers have picked up on the demand for larger sizes but maternity fashion designers have been slow to respond.
Designing larger sized clothing has different challenges to small sizes, but technically is no more difficult. While larger sized ladies may have bigger hips, busts and pregnant bellies, they don’t necessarily have bigger shoulders.
We roadtested a number of extra large size and plus size maternity garments using ladies sized 20 & 24. We found the following -
In General:
Most Flattering:
 Most Comfortable:
Adjustable waists and natural fabrics were a winner in the comfort stakes. Cosmic maternity shorts had a nice stretchy band at the top that felt great around the tummy.

As a mother, the letter below from Toni & David McCaffrey is heartbreaking. As a mother of a newborn, its terrifying.Â
Whooping cough is on the rise. If you were immunised as a child and haven’t had a booster since, you are no longer immune, can carry the deadly virus unknowingly and pass it on to others. Newborn babies have no immunity to this deadly virus.
The letter below is a heartbreaking story of a family who lost their precious baby to whooping cough. Please take the time to read it and please go and get immunised.  Read the rest of this entry »
My absolute favourite maternity garment throughout my three pregnancies has been a long maternity skirt. Made in a soft cotton jersey fabric with an underbelly design, and falling to my ankle in a slight aline shape, my skirts (I have a number of them, one in black, one in a colourful safari stripe and one in a slate / charcoal grey) are like wearing my favourite pair of tracksuit pants, they are sooooo comfortable. But the best thing about these long skirts, they are smart too. Read the rest of this entry »

Finding the perfect fit maternity jeans that will be comfortable to the end of your pregnancy can be a serious challenge. I have heard so many mums to be complain about jeans that fitted okay in their first trimester but ended up too tight in the bottom and hips later on, jeans that wouldn’t stay up, jeans that were too high in the crutch so pulled on their belly, jeans that were too short in the leg and jeans that were way too expensive to even consider buying.
